KPV: doses reported in published research

Sources checked 2026-10-07 · 1 cited study (0 human, 1 animal, 0 cell culture)

KPV (Lys-Pro-Val) is the C-terminal tripeptide of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH 11-13). Published dose data are from mouse colitis models; several papers describe KPV only in nanoparticle or hydrogel formulations.

No human data. no human studies or registered human trials of KPV were found.

Animal studies (1)

Animal doses are listed exactly as the studies report them. They are not converted to human amounts here; doses do not translate between species by body weight.

Animal Wild-type and PepT1-knockout mice (AOM/DSS colitis-associated tumour model)

Dose as reported
100 µmol/L in drinking water
Route
Oral (drinking water)
Frequency / duration
During both DSS periods (7 days each)

Source wording: The KPV-treated group received 100 μmol/L KPV in their drinking water along with the DSS during both DSS cycles. with or without KPV for 7 days

Half-life

No half-life value was found in the sources reviewed for this page.

Two 2008 mouse colitis papers (PMID 18061177, 18092346) give KPV orally or by other routes but do not state the amount in their abstracts, and their full text is not open access.
